About the role#
Figure is looking for a Hardware Reliability Intern to join the team for an 8 to 12 month term. You will work on-site in San Jose to help design, build, and validate electromechanical test stations. This role focuses on evaluating the performance and reliability of humanoid robot hardware through hands-on integration of mechanical fixtures, sensors, and control systems.
What you'll do#
- Design and build scalable test stations for robotic components.
- Integrate electrical wiring, power supplies, controllers, and mechanical fixtures into complete setups.
- Create test sequences to automate equipment and collect measurement data.
- Perform test station bring-up, qualification, and safety checks.
- Execute tests, monitor hardware behavior, and document results or anomalies.
- Troubleshoot setups and support root cause investigations.
- Maintain technical documentation, including fixture drawings, schematics, and bills of materials.
- Work with cross-functional teams to improve test coverage and station reliability.
What you'll need#
- Pursuing a degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Robotics, Mechatronics, or a related field.
- Completion of at least two years of your degree program by the start date.
- Availability for an 8 to 12 month internship.
- Ability to work on-site five days per week.
- Hands-on experience assembling and testing mechanical or electromechanical systems.
- Proficiency with laboratory equipment like multimeters, oscilloscopes, and bench power supplies.
- Basic programming skills in Python and familiarity with Git.
- A portfolio or project examples showing your individual contributions.
- Experience with CAD tools, fixture design, 3D printing, or machining is helpful.
- Familiarity with data acquisition systems, communication interfaces, or reliability testing methods is a plus.
