About the role#
This internship provides exposure to general accounting, financial analysis, and budgeting within the Finance and Accounting Department. You will assist the team with financial reports, documentation, and various clerical functions. This is a full-time, paid position based in Lakewood, California.
What you'll do#
- Design, prepare, and maintain Excel spreadsheets using mathematical calculations.
- Perform monthly general ledger account certifications and summarize ledger activity.
- Handle clerical tasks including filing, scanning, mailing, and inventory management for archive boxes.
- Prepare the monthly department closing calendar.
- Analyze historical financial activity to assist with budget preparation.
- Help prepare actual versus budget reports and explain variances.
- Support the department with budgeting system upgrades, including testing and validation.
- Provide budget training to other departments.
- Ensure compliance with state and federal banking laws and internal policies.
What you'll need#
- A high school diploma or equivalent GED.
- Basic computer literacy and foundational knowledge of Microsoft Office.
- Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Excel is preferred.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Attention to detail and the ability to maintain accuracy during repetitive tasks.
- Prior customer service experience is preferred.
- Ability to lift or move objects weighing up to 25 pounds.

- Compensation: $16.50 to $24.50 per hour.
- Term: Rolling.
- Note: This position requires a mandatory two-week consecutive absence from essential duties each calendar year.
