About the role#
Fairfield is looking for an intern to assist with analysis across portfolios, assets, acquisitions, development, and research. You will work alongside analysts, portfolio managers, underwriters, and developers to help create investment business plans. This 10-week summer program provides exposure to the real estate investment lifecycle, culminating in a capstone investment presentation to the Investment Committee.
What you'll do#
- Monitor portfolio performance, variances, and forecasting activities.
- Report on asset performance relative to budgets, proformas, and industry benchmarks.
- Create cash flow projections and assist with financial modeling, valuations, and performance ranking.
- Research market conditions and identify regional or national trends.
- Assist with preparing and updating development proformas and underwriting analysis.
- Review property metrics including vacancy, rental rates, traffic, and delinquencies.
- Shop and analyze competitor properties.
- Prepare analytical materials, dashboard reports, and presentations for internal stakeholders.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Finance, Real Estate, Economics, Accounting, Business Administration, Urban Planning, Mathematics, or a related field.
- Relevant coursework in finance, investments, valuation, statistics, or commercial real estate.
- Academic or professional experience involving financial analysis, research, or business analytics.
- Strong quantitative, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, specifically Excel, PowerPoint, and Word, with familiarity in Microsoft Copilot.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks, meet deadlines, and work under pressure.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- A desire to learn and grow within the commercial real estate industry.

- This is a full-time, on-site internship for Summer 2027.
- The role is based at the Fairfield corporate office in San Diego, California.
- The position is paid, with an estimated hourly rate of $23.00 to $25.00 depending on skills and experience.
