Mechanical Co-Op

About the role#

EXP is seeking a Mechanical Co-Op to join our team in Raleigh, North Carolina for the Summer 2026 term. This is a full-time, paid position where you will support our Mechanical team on local projects that serve the community. You will work alongside professional engineers to gain hands-on experience in the HVAC consulting industry, from initial design to construction observation.

What you'll do#

• Collaborate with engineers to deliver accurate project results on schedule.
• Generate drawings from engineer markups using REVIT.
• Utilize HVAC load calculation software to support project requirements.
• Conduct research on codes, references, and standards to assist the engineering team.
• Perform handwritten calculations and other assigned engineering tasks.
• Participate in site investigations to understand real-world engineering applications.
• Observe the construction process of projects you helped design.

What you'll need#

• Current enrollment as at least a sophomore in an accredited Bachelor’s degree program in Mechanical Engineering.
• Demonstrated fluency in engineering problem-solving.
• A strong interest in the HVAC consulting industry.
• Proficiency in basic computer skills, including Microsoft Word and Excel.
• Experience or understanding of CAD and 3D modeling software.
• Strong communication skills, organizational habits, and a self-starting, results-oriented approach.
