About the role#
Ephemeris Net is building infrastructure to extend the internet into space. As an engineering intern, you will work on optical terminals for laser communications and the networking services that connect satellites. You will be matched with a project based on your background and the team's needs, ensuring your work contributes to either hardware destined for orbit or the development of our network simulation capabilities.
What you'll do#
- Design and implement optical transceiver FPGA firmware.
- Build a space network simulator.
- Design and fabricate test fixtures or mechanical subsystems.
- Build high speed optoelectronic communication test equipment.
- Write embedded flight software.
What you'll need#
- Demonstrated ability to build things through personal projects, research, coursework, or prior internships.
- Strong fundamentals in embedded systems, FPGA development, software engineering, optical or mechanical design, electrical engineering, information theory, or networking.
- Must be a US person.
- Ability to work on-site 3 days a week.
- Pursuing a degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Aerospace Engineering.

- Term: Spring 2027.
- Modality: Hybrid (on-site 3 days a week).
- Locations: Oakland, California or El Segundo, California.
- Compensation: Paid internship at $70,400 annual salary, prorated for the term length.
