About the role#
Ephemeris Net is building infrastructure for space-based internet. As an intern, you will work directly on optical terminals for laser communications and the networking services that connect satellites. You will be assigned a mentor and work on production systems that either fly on orbit or inform the architecture of our network. Your project will be tailored to your background and our current technical needs.
What you'll do#
- Design and implement optical transceiver FPGA firmware.
- Build a space network simulator.
- Design and fabricate test fixtures or mechanical subsystems for optical terminal prototypes.
- Build high speed optoelectronic communication test equipment.
- Write embedded flight software.
What you'll need#
- Demonstrated ability to build things, whether through personal projects, research, coursework, or prior internships.
- Strong fundamentals in at least one of these areas: embedded systems, FPGA development, software engineering, optical or mechanical design, electrical engineering, information theory, or networking.
- Ability to work on-site in El Segundo, CA or Oakland, CA for at least 3 months, 3 days a week.
- You must be a US person as defined by 15 CFR § 772.1.
