About the role#
Reporting to the Electrical Engineering Manager, the Hardware Design Co-op supports the development of electrical designs for custom automation equipment. You will work alongside experienced designers and engineers to create design documentation, perform calculations, and assist with equipment integration. This role is designed to help you build knowledge in electrical design, safety standards, and automation systems while contributing to real-world projects.
What you'll do#
- Create electrical designs based on customer requirements using standard templates.
- Perform engineering calculations for short-circuit current ratings and panel heat loss.
- Update electrical drawings, process redlines, and maintain design documentation.
- Provide electrical support during equipment integration, testing, and troubleshooting.
- Learn from senior technical leaders about automation systems and safety standards.
- Contribute to a variety of custom automation projects.
- Support the core values of the business.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in a post-secondary program for Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related field that requires a co-op term.
- Mechanical aptitude and the ability to read technical drawings and schematics.
- Strong problem-solving, communication, and organizational skills.
- A high level of attention to detail and a commitment to safety.
- Curiosity and a willingness to learn new technical skills independently or within a team.
- Familiarity with electrical schematics, wiring principles, SolidWorks, or AutoCAD Electrical is an asset.

- Compensation: $22.00 - $26.00 per hour.
