About the role#
Dryden Fibre Canada is hiring Forestry Summer Students for the 2027 season. These full-time positions are based in Dryden and Ear Falls, Ontario. The roles are approximately four months long and focus on supporting forest renewal and tending programs.
What you'll do#
- Monitor silviculture contractors to ensure safety and quality standards are met.
- Conduct site reconnaissance and prepare pre-work for renewal operations.
- Verify contractor payment and compliance.
- Perform regeneration surveys, including establishment, survival, and stand tending assessments.
- Assist with planning silviculture projects such as aerial chemical tending or slash pile burning.
- Collect field data using Survey 123 or Avenza Maps.
- Carry out road inspections, monitor water crossings, and install signs.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in any year of a Forestry or Environmental diploma or degree program.
- A valid G driver’s license and a valid First Aid certificate.
- Ability to work in a forest environment, either independently or as part of a team.
- Physical capability to work outdoors in inclement weather.
- A self-motivated approach to field work.
- Previous experience in silviculture, field surveying, contractor supervision, harvesting, or road construction is considered an asset.
