About the role#
The Publications Data Management Intern supports the MSF Science Portal, an online platform that hosts research studies, medical publications, and conference presentations. You will work with the Project Manager to maintain the platform, improve data quality, and support ongoing research communication efforts. This is a paid, part-time position at 20 hours per week for a 3-month term, with the possibility of a 3-month extension.
What you'll do#
- Create a weekly list of new MSF-authored publications by reviewing PubMed, Google Scholar alerts, and other sources.
- Enter journal publications and conference materials into the Science Portal database using the content management system.
- Perform data cleaning and management, including using SQL to conduct bulk updates.
- Optimize workflow monitoring and improve operational efficiency.
- Support communications to raise awareness of the Science Portal through social media and internal platforms.
- Assist with additional projects such as website improvements, dashboard development, and communications planning.
What you'll need#
- Current or recent graduate of a Master’s level or higher program in public health or library sciences.
- Familiarity with scholarly publications, medical literature, and scientific journals.
- Experience with or a strong interest in project and data management.
- Experience working with relational databases.
- Ability to work independently with supportive supervision.
Location & details#
- This role is based in New York, New York, or Washington, District of Columbia.
- The work modality is hybrid, requiring in-office attendance on either Tuesdays or Wednesdays.
- Compensation is $18.00 per hour.
