About the role#
Discovery Land Company is seeking Culinary Interns and Trainees for the summer season at The Hills and Dune Deck Beach Club in Westhampton Beach, New York. This position supports the Food and Beverage department in creating high-quality dining experiences for members and guests. The term runs from May 1 to October 1, 2027.
What you'll do#
- Ensure all dishes are prepared uniformly according to specifications set by the Culinary Director or Executive Chef.
- Assist with food preparation tasks, including chopping vegetables, butchering meat, and preparing sauces.
- Maintain kitchen cleanliness throughout the day, including sweeping, cleaning counters, and garbage disposal.
- Perform daily stocking and re-stocking of kitchen items and raw ingredients.
- Monitor expiration dates of perishable items and inspect all ingredients prior to use.
- Follow standard recipes to ensure consistent food quality.
- Maintain kitchen equipment and report safety or maintenance concerns promptly.
- Attend department meetings and training sessions as required.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in an accredited Culinary or Hospitality program.
- At least six months of related experience in the back of the house of a foodservice outlet.
- Current ServSafe certification.
- Knowledge of health and safety regulations and the ability to apply them in the workplace.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, often in shifts exceeding eight hours.
- Ability to meet physical demands, including standing, walking, and moving for over eight hours and lifting items weighing more than 50 pounds.

- Work Modality: On-site.
- Compensation: $21.00 per hour with overtime available.
- Additional Details: This is a full-time, paid position. Limited shared housing is available through a separate rental company.
