About the role#
Dexter is looking for an Information Technology Intern to join our team for the Summer 2027 term. This role offers hands-on experience across various IT functions, allowing you to develop technical and troubleshooting skills in a professional environment. You will work alongside our IT team to support technology projects, HelpDesk activities, and hardware and software initiatives.
What you'll do#
- Monitor the daily performance of computer systems, applications, and IT infrastructure.
- Provide technical support and assistance to system users.
- Investigate and resolve hardware, software, and system issues.
- Configure and set up computers and equipment for employee use.
- Assist with hardware and software repairs, upgrades, and testing.
- Maintain equipment inventory, track movement between facilities, and coordinate recycling of unused gear.
- Support enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems to help meet business requirements.
- Assist with security reviews, audits, system maintenance, backups, and redundancy efforts.
- Monitor application performance and identify opportunities for improvement.
- Collaborate with vendors and IT professionals to resolve technical problems.
- Support the design and maintenance of information and operational support systems.
What you'll need#
- High school diploma.
- Current enrollment at an accredited college or university in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
- Foundational technical skills and a strong interest in IT.
- Problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities.
- Knowledge of current IT trends, including information security.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills.
- Ability to adapt to changing priorities.
- Professional written and verbal communication skills.
- Sense of ethics and ability to handle confidential information.
- Proficiency in English.
