About the role#
Dewberry is seeking a Site/Civil Engineering Intern for the Summer 2027 term in Gainesville, Virginia. This full-time, paid internship provides hands-on project experience and the opportunity to work on tasks similar to those handled by full-time staff. Interns participate in workshops, networking events, and a summer-long group project focused on firm strategy.
What you'll do#
- Contribute to all phases of civil and municipal engineering projects.
- Assist with grading design, roadway design, storm water management systems design, water and sanitary sewer design, and erosion and sediment control design.
- Conduct research on permitting and codes.
- Write project specifications.
- Prepare and submit permit applications.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering.
- Proficiency in CADD and Microsoft Office software.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Knowledge of site and civil engineering practices, including design for grading, roadways, storm water, water and sanitary sewer systems, and erosion control.
- Previous internship experience is preferred.
- Ability to work in a team environment.

- Compensation: $17.75 to $28.75 per hour, depending on skills and experience.
