About the role#
This apprenticeship offers current Denver Public Schools students the opportunity to gain experience in an educational setting. Apprentices work under the direction of teachers and school leaders to support students in core subject areas, including math, reading, writing, science, and social studies. Participants provide classroom support during non-scheduled class times at district elementary, middle schools, or early childcare learning centers.
What you'll do#
- Help prepare classrooms for lessons, assist with the display of student work, and maintain equipment and resources.
- Support supervising teachers in helping students understand instructions and curriculum.
- Set strong, measurable individual goals and deliver expected results under the direction of teachers.
- Contribute to conversations regarding equity and barriers to student success.
- Maintain student records and perform other requested administrative duties.
- Comply with district policies regarding child protection, health, safety, security, and data confidentiality.
What you'll need#
- Must be a current Denver Public Schools student.
- Must maintain a permanent home address in Colorado.
- Ability to meet the physical demands of the position, with or without accommodations.
- Commitment to racial and educational excellence and a belief in supporting all students to ensure they have access to high-quality education.
