About the role#
The Denver Broncos Football Club is seeking a Sports Turf & Grounds Intern for the Summer 2027 season. This role supports the maintenance and upkeep of three natural grass football fields and one synthetic turf indoor field at Broncos Park. You will also assist with the general landscape and hardscape maintenance of the surrounding property.
What you'll do#
- Execute daily turf maintenance including mowing, field renovation, layout and painting, and fertilizer or pesticide application.
- Perform synthetic turf maintenance and assist with irrigation system repairs.
- Manage landscape and hardscape areas, including native grass, planting beds, trees, and shrubs.
- Operate equipment such as utility vehicles, tractors, mowers, string trimmers, and various hand tools.
- Support field setup and strike for team practices, special events, and sporting events like soccer and lacrosse.
- Maintain drainage areas, including detention ponds and sediment basins.
- Track equipment, material, and supply inventories.
- Assist with snow removal operations on athletic fields, interior sidewalks, and entrances.
- Communicate maintenance needs and priority recommendations to the Turf and Grounds staff.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a 2- or 4-year turfgrass or horticultural program.
- Ability to work extended hours, including weekends.
- Experience operating industry standard equipment.
- Ability to work in adverse weather conditions.
- Strong work ethic, professionalism, and organizational skills.
- Ability to communicate effectively in one-on-one and small group situations.
- Capacity to maintain confidentiality.
- Ability to use a smartphone.
- You must arrange your own transportation and living requirements.
- Provision of letters of recommendation from an academic advisor or a past or present employer.
