About the role#
DBR is hiring an Electrical Design Intern to join our team in Houston, Dallas, or San Antonio. This is a paid, full-time, on-site internship with a rolling start date. You will work directly with our engineering team on electrical design projects.
What you'll do#
- Create power distribution and one-line diagrams.
- Design layouts for lighting, lighting controls, and receptacles, including circuiting for HVAC and plumbing equipment.
- Develop interior and exterior lighting plans using photometric layouts and energy codes.
- Design lighting control systems to meet IECC and owner requirements.
- Apply the National Electrical Code, NFPA 101, life safety standards, and IBC in your designs.
- Calculate electrical service loads and design distribution systems, including conductor sizing and AIC ratings.
- Review submittals during construction and answer contractor questions.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Architectural Engineering.
- Eligibility to work in the United States without sponsorship.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
- Familiarity with AutoCAD or Revit.
- Ability to work well within a project team.
- A positive attitude and a willingness to ask questions and learn.
