As an intern on the magnetic design team, you will support the development of electric motors. You will work alongside magnetic designers to assist with simulations, data processing, test reporting, and the development of design tools.
What you'll do#
- Build magnetic and thermal models.
- Perform motor electromagnetic and thermal simulations, including basic thermal simulations in MotorCad.
- Run basic structural analysis and support the structure team with detailed analysis.
- Develop multi-physical motor design tools using Matlab and Python.
- Assist with magnetic core characterization regarding loss and B(H) curves.
- Prepare test and validation reports on motor performance and durability.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a Master or PhD program in Electrical Engineering, preferably within the electrical machine and drive domain.
- Strong programming skills in Matlab and Python.
- Basic knowledge of electrical motor components, functionality, and cooling system principles.
- Familiarity with magnetic and insulation materials is preferred.
- Good written and verbal communication skills.
Location & details#
- Location: Boucherville, Quebec, Canada.
- Term: Fall 2026.
- Schedule: Full-time, 37.5 hours per week.
- Compensation: Hourly rate between $24.00 and $27.75, based on education level.
- Logistics: On-site position with occasional remote work flexibility. A shuttle service is available between the Longueuil metro station and the Boucherville site.
