    About the role#

    The Cost Engineering department calculates costs for purchased parts and tooling for series production and new projects. As an intern, you will work with a global team to generate transparent cost calculations using standardized processes and IT systems. This position is a full-time, paid internship for Summer 2027.

    What you'll do#

    • Calculate bottom-up costs of future and series parts based on technical specifications and engineering proposals.
    • Disassemble and document truck part weights, dimensions, and images for reference cost calculations.
    • Use Daimler specific IT systems for technical drawings and 3D documentation.
    • Apply Daimler methodology for cost analysis using price breakdown templates.
    • Prepare presentations for cross-functional teams and management.
    • Consolidate cost calculations and results for regional and global comparison.
    • Generate ideas for cost optimizations.
    • Improve and standardize costing methods and templates.
    • Lead and support efforts to foster an inclusive and welcoming workplace culture.

    What you'll need#

    • Current enrollment in a Bachelor’s program or higher in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, or graduation within one year of the start date.
    • Enrollment in an Upper-Division Engineering program.
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
    • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
    • Strong oral and written communication skills.
    • Solid organizational and interpersonal skills with a creative mindset.
    • Interest in manufacturing technology and assembly or disassembly of parts and tools.
    • Preferred: Experience with Siemens NX or other 3D modeling CAD software, PowerBI, Microsoft PowerApps, and Agentic Reference Calculation development.

    Location & details#

    • Location: Portland, Oregon.
    • Schedule: Hybrid, with four days per week in-office and one day remote.
    • This position does not offer visa sponsorship.
