About the role#
As a Pharmacy Intern, you will apply your pharmacy school education to real-world practice while preparing for your future role as a pharmacist. You will complete a comprehensive training roadmap that includes Key Learning Experiences, store operations, and time spent with district leadership. This role focuses on developing clinical and technical skills under the direction of a preceptor to ensure pharmacy operations run safely and effectively.
What you'll do#
- Follow pharmacy workflow procedures at all workstations, including production, pick-up, drive-thru, and drop-off.
- Assist the pharmacy team to ensure prescriptions are filled promptly, safely, and accurately.
- Provide patient care by offering to counsel and fielding medical questions under pharmacist supervision.
- Take telephonic prescriptions and clarify details with prescribers.
- Deliver patient services such as immunizations and point-of-care testing, including monitoring for and responding to adverse reactions.
- Provide in-the-moment coaching and mentoring to team members.
- Complete basic inventory activities, such as cycle counts and putting away medication deliveries.
- Comply with all federal, state, and local laws, as well as company standard operating procedures.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment or acceptance into an ACPE accredited college or school of pharmacy.
- Valid intern or technician licensure, or be in the process of obtaining it.
- Ability to maintain regular, predictable attendance including nights and weekends.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Suite is preferred.
- At least 1 year of related experience in pharmacy, retail, medical, or customer service settings is preferred.
- Ability to become immunization certified is preferred.
