About the role#
As a Pharmacy Intern, you will apply your pharmacy school education to real-world practice. You will work under the direction of a preceptor to complete a training roadmap, gaining experience in store, district, and regional operations. This role prepares you for future responsibilities as a pharmacist while you support the pharmacy team in delivering patient care.
What you'll do#
- Complete a comprehensive training roadmap and key learning experiences.
- Assist the pharmacy team to ensure operations run smoothly, including following workflow procedures at all workstations.
- Fill prescriptions promptly, safely, and accurately.
- Provide patient care by offering immunizations, point-of-care testing, and educating patients on vaccines.
- Monitor for and respond to adverse reactions.
- Counsel patients and field medical questions under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist.
- Take telephonic prescriptions from prescribers and facilitate medication changes.
- Perform basic inventory activities such as cycle counts and stocking medication deliveries.
- Provide coaching and mentorship to pharmacy team members.
- Comply with all federal, state, and local laws, as well as company policies regarding patient safety and privacy.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in an ACPE accredited college or school of pharmacy.
- Valid intern or technician licensure, or be in the process of obtaining it.
- Ability to work in your home store and travel to other locations within the market.
- Ability to become immunization certified.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Suite.
- At least 1 year of experience in a pharmacy, retail, medical, or customer service setting is preferred.
- Ability to remain mobile and stand for extended periods, and lift up to 20 lbs.
