About the role#
As a Pharmacy Intern, you will apply your classroom learning to real-world practice. You will follow a comprehensive training roadmap designed to prepare you for a future role as a Pharmacist. This position involves gaining an overview of store, district, and regional operations while working under the direction of a preceptor.
What you'll do#
- Complete a comprehensive training roadmap and follow company SOPs at every workstation.
- Assist with pharmacy workflow procedures including production, pick-up, drive-thru, and drop-off to ensure safe and accurate prescription fulfillment.
- Contribute to positive patient experiences by showing empathy and providing caring service.
- Offer to counsel and field medical questions under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist.
- Take telephonic prescriptions from prescribers and clarify medication changes.
- Provide coaching, training, and mentoring to pharmacy team members.
- Perform basic inventory activities such as putting away deliveries, cycle counts, and returns.
- Deliver patient health care services including immunizations, point-of-care testing, and staffing offsite clinics.
- Obtain Technician Immunizer status to prepare and administer vaccines, educate patients on vaccine importance, and monitor for adverse reactions.
What you'll need#
- Active enrollment in an ACPE accredited college or school of pharmacy.
- Valid intern or technician licensure, or be in the process of obtaining it.
- At least 1 year of work experience in pharmacy, retail, medical, or customer service settings.
- Ability to become immunization certified.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Suite.
- Flexibility to work in your home store and travel to other locations within the market.
