About the role#
As a Pharmacy Intern, you will apply your pharmacy school education to real-world practice. You will work under the direction of a preceptor to complete a comprehensive training roadmap. This role provides an overview of store, district, and regional operations while preparing you for a future Pharmacist position. You will assist the pharmacy team in maintaining smooth operations and providing caring service to our patients.
What you'll do#
- Follow company SOPs and pharmacy workflow procedures to ensure prescriptions are filled promptly, safely, and accurately.
- Provide caring service and contribute to positive patient experiences.
- Offer to counsel and field medical questions under the supervision of a pharmacist.
- Take telephonic prescriptions and communicate with prescribers regarding medication changes.
- Provide in-the-moment coaching, training, and mentoring to team members.
- Complete basic inventory activities, such as putting away deliveries and managing returns.
- Deliver health care services including immunizations and point-of-care testing where permitted.
- Educate patients about vaccines and monitor for adverse reactions.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in or acceptance to an ACPE accredited college or school of pharmacy.
- Valid intern or technician licensure, or be in the process of obtaining one.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Suite.
- Ability to become immunization certified.
- Ability to work at your home store and travel to other locations across the market as needed.
- At least 1 year of related work experience in pharmacy, retail, medical, or customer service settings is preferred.
