About the role#
As a Pharmacy Intern, you will apply your pharmacy school education to real-world practice. You will follow a comprehensive training roadmap focused on Key Learning Experiences to prepare for a future Pharmacist role. This position involves gaining hands-on experience with store, district, and regional operations under the guidance of a preceptor.
What you'll do#
- Support the pharmacy team in prescription fulfillment and daily operations at workstations including production, pick-up, drive-thru, and drop-off.
- Contribute to positive patient experiences by providing empathetic care and solving patient problems.
- Offer to counsel and field medical questions under the supervision of a pharmacist.
- Take telephonic prescriptions and facilitate medication changes where allowed by regulation.
- Provide coaching, training, and mentoring to pharmacy team members.
- Complete basic inventory activities such as putting away deliveries, cycle counts, and returns.
- Deliver patient health care services, including immunizations and point-of-care testing, where allowable.
- Support immunization services by preparing and administering vaccines, monitoring for adverse reactions, and documenting patient information.
- Comply with all federal, state, and local laws, regulations, and ethical principles.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an ACPE accredited college or school of pharmacy.
- Valid intern or technician licensure, or be in the process of obtaining it.
- 1+ years of related work experience in a pharmacy, retail, medical, or customer service setting is preferred.
- Ability to become immunization certified is preferred.
- Flexibility to work in your home store and travel to other locations in the market as needed.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Suite is preferred.
