About the role#
As a Pharmacy Intern, you will apply your pharmacy school education to real-world practice. You will work under the direction of a preceptor to complete a comprehensive training roadmap. This role prepares you for future responsibilities as a pharmacist by providing hands-on experience with store, district, and regional operations. You will support the pharmacy team to ensure operations run smoothly and patients receive accurate, safe, and timely service.
What you'll do#
- Follow company SOPs and pharmacy workflow procedures for prescription fulfillment at workstations like production, pick-up, drive-thru, and drop-off.
- Contribute to positive patient experiences by showing empathy, fielding medical questions, and soliciting medical history.
- Take telephonic prescriptions from prescribers and call to clarify or facilitate medication changes.
- Provide coaching and mentoring to pharmacy team members.
- Perform basic inventory activities such as cycle counts, returns-to-stocks, and managing medication deliveries.
- Deliver patient health care services including immunizations and point-of-care testing.
- Educate patients on vaccine importance and monitor for adverse reactions.
- Remain flexible with scheduling and travel to other store locations within the market as needed.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in an ACPE accredited college or school of pharmacy.
- Valid intern or technician licensure, or be in the process of obtaining it.
- At least 1 year of related work experience in pharmacy, retail, medical, or customer service.
- Ability to become immunization certified.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Suite including Outlook, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
- Strong attention and focus to confirm prescription accuracy and pivot between tasks.
- Ability to use mathematical reasoning to solve problems like calculating medication supply.
- Effective communication skills and the ability to resolve challenging patient or colleague interactions.

- Schedule: Regular and predictable attendance is required, including nights and weekends.
