About the role#
As a Pharmacy Intern, you will apply your classroom learning to real-world practice. Under the direction of a preceptor, you will complete a comprehensive training roadmap designed to prepare you for a future role as a pharmacist. You will gain exposure to store, district, and regional operations while assisting the pharmacy team in delivering care to patients.
What you'll do#
- Follow a training roadmap and pharmacy workflow procedures at all workstations, including production, pick-up, drive-thru, and drop-off.
- Ensure prescriptions are filled safely, accurately, and promptly.
- Provide caring service to patients and assist with medical questions under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist.
- Take telephonic prescriptions and call prescribers to clarify medication orders.
- Complete basic inventory tasks, such as cycle counts and putting away deliveries.
- Deliver health care services, including immunizations and point-of-care testing, where permitted by law.
- Educate patients on vaccines, monitor for adverse reactions, and document patient information.
- Provide in-the-moment coaching to team members and contribute to a safe, inclusive team environment.
- Comply with all federal, state, and local laws, as well as company policies.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in or acceptance into an ACPE accredited college or school of pharmacy.
- Valid intern or technician licensure, or be in the process of obtaining one.
- At least 1 year of work experience in a pharmacy, retail, medical, or customer service setting.
- Ability to become immunization certified.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Suite.
- Ability to work in your home store and travel to other locations within the market as needed.
