About the role#
This internship is designed for foreign-trained pharmacists to complete their required US internship hours. You will work under the direct supervision of a licensed pharmacist to build your professional knowledge and skills. This role requires you to complete all necessary US internship hours within 18 months and obtain pharmacist licensure in the state of Ohio within 120 days of finishing those hours.
What you'll do#
- Process prescriptions, including translating SIG codes, selecting products, counting, measuring, and labeling.
- Resolve third-party rejections and complete manual claim forms.
- Perform prescription pick-up procedures and maintain inventory management policies.
- Deliver health care services such as testing and immunizations as allowed by state regulation.
- Support the supervising pharmacist in dispensing duties and compliance monitoring.
- Counsel patients under the direct supervision of a licensed pharmacist.
- Motivate and develop pharmacy support staff by coordinating their training and implementation of development plans.
- Maintain a safe and effective retail pharmacy environment.
What you'll need#
- A Doctorate (PharmD) or equivalent degree from a non-US accredited school of pharmacy.
- Successful completion of the FPGEE and TOEFL exams.
- An active pharmacy intern license in the state where the district is located.
- A high school diploma or GED.
- Strong communication and presentation skills.
- Availability for regular, predictable attendance, including nights and weekends.
- Physical ability to lift and exert up to 20 lbs of force occasionally and up to 10 lbs frequently.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite is preferred.
