About the role#
As a Foreign Pharmacy Graduate, you will complete your required US internship hours to build upon your existing pharmacy education. This role is designed to develop your professional knowledge and skills in a retail pharmacy setting. You will work under the direct supervision of a licensed pharmacist to gain experience in patient care, practice management, and leadership. You must complete your internship within 18 months and obtain pharmacist licensure in the state within 120 days of finishing your required hours.
What you'll do#
- Ensure a safe and effective retail pharmacy environment while modeling professional values.
- Counsel patients under the direct supervision of a licensed pharmacist.
- Support the pharmacy manager in motivating and developing pharmacy support staff.
- Perform register transactions and assist customers with questions.
- Process prescriptions, including the translation of SIG codes, and resolve third-party rejections.
- Maintain inventory, assist with drug orders, and ensure regulatory compliance.
- Deliver health care services, including immunizations and testing, as permitted by state regulation.
- Maintain HIPAA standards and protect confidential patient information.
What you'll need#
- A pharmacy degree from a non-US accredited college or school of pharmacy.
- Successful completion of the FPGEE and TOEFL exams.
- An active pharmacy intern license in the state where the district is located.
- Strong communication and presentation skills.
- Ability to work a schedule that includes nights and weekends.
- Ability to lift and exert up to 20 lbs of force occasionally and up to 10 lbs frequently.
