About the role#
The Finance and Accounting Intern will gain hands-on experience by supporting the financial operations of Curry Up Now and Mortar & Pestle Brands. Working under the supervision of the CEO and Corporate Finance/Accounting leadership, this role provides exposure to the restaurant industry through bookkeeping, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and budget management. This is an unpaid internship that requires daily commuting to the South San Francisco headquarters and local restaurant locations.
What you'll do#
- Assist in the annual preparation of sales projections, forecasts, expense budgets, and capital expenditure budgets.
- Maximize profits by controlling expenses within established budget guidelines.
- Collaborate with corporate staff, general managers, and franchisees to maintain operational financial controls.
- Participate in weekly management meetings to report on finance and accounting issues.
- Help conduct audits and financial reviews.
- Support general bookkeeping, payroll, and tax documentation tasks.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a higher education program for Finance or Accounting is preferred.
- 1-3 years of relevant education experience in Accounting and Finance.
- Proficiency or exposure to financial platforms, record-keeping, and Microsoft Suite.
- Strong organizational skills with excellent oral and written communication skills in English.
- Ability to work weekends, holidays, and evenings if required.
- Willingness to travel to corporate-owned and franchisee restaurants across the United States.
