About the role#
This internship focuses on applying engineering principles and design practices to create optimized design concepts and mechanical specifications. You will consider factors like cost, weight, performance, reliability, and manufacturing requirements. You will work across disciplines to develop requirements and resolve product issues.
What you'll do#
- Investigate material and processing problems and document results with guidance from experienced team members.
- Support the improvement of processes like material validation, quality auditing, and design validation.
- Use tools for material characterization, testing, non-destructive testing, and statistical data analysis.
- Assist team members in negotiating with Quality, Supply Chain, and Engineering functions.
- Support decisions regarding material selection, optimization, and inspection.
- Apply and improve material specifications and standards.
- Execute established work processes and systems under supervision.
- Contribute to team goals while developing technical knowledge.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment as a full-time student in a bachelor, master, or PhD program at an accredited U.S. college or university.
- Current residency within the continental U.S.
- Ability to work 40 hours per week.
- Commitment to a duration between 4 months and 12 months.
- Preferred GPA of 2.5 or higher.
- Willingness to learn from others on the job.
- Proficiency in mechanical design modeling, analysis, and system requirements engineering.
- Skills in cross-functional design integration, product problem solving, and platform planning.
- Strong collaboration, communication, and self-development habits.
- Majors considered: Computer, Electrical, Mechanical, Civil, Chemical, Industrial, Aerospace, or Biomedical Engineering.
