About the role#
We are hiring for an Electronic Systems Summer Internship for the summer of 2027. This role is open to students pursuing undergraduate or graduate degrees in engineering. You will work 40 hours per week, either on-site in Columbus, Indiana, or remotely from your home office within the continental United States.
What you'll do#
- Create and manage software that controls the operation of Cummins products.
- Identify stakeholder requirements and translate them into technical hardware and software specifications.
- Design, implement, test, and release software that interacts with customer applications.
- Develop and integrate electrical and electronic hardware, including sensors, actuators, control units, harnesses, and wiring.
- Tailor electronic and electrical systems for specific product needs.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment as a full-time student in an accredited U.S. college or university.
- Pursuing a degree in Computer, Electrical, Mechanical, Chemical, Industrial, Aerospace, Biomedical, or Environmental Engineering.
- A minimum GPA of 2.5 is preferred.
- Ability to work 40 hours per week.
- Residence within the continental United States.
- A willingness to learn from others on the job.
- Familiarity with mechatronics systems, machine integration, product failure mode avoidance, problem solving, and system requirements engineering.
