About the role#
As a Chemical Engineering Intern, you will work directly with engineers to learn optical coating processes. This position provides hands-on experience in a manufacturing environment. You will support the optical coating team and present formal project reviews to division leadership. You will gain exposure to optical thin-film coating processes, including vacuum systems, coating chambers, and performance metrics like reflectance and transmittance.
What you'll do#
- Support projects within the optical coating department.
- Interact daily with plant operations teams in coating areas and chambers.
- Assist with coating run reviews, process monitoring, data collection, and documentation.
- Participate in the planning, execution, and reflection phases of experimental activities.
- Analyze data and provide support for process improvement efforts.
- Prepare and deliver updates and formal presentations to engineering and leadership teams.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing a Chemical Engineering degree, with Junior or Senior status preferred.
- Basic understanding of manufacturing environments, process flow, or production support systems.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
- Experience with data analysis, including Microsoft Excel and SPC rules.
- Ability to work effectively in a team-based environment.

- Compensation: Paid position with a biweekly range of $1,635.00 to $3,185.00.
