About the role#
As a Transportation Intern, you will support civil engineering tasks within our Transportation Planning and Design department. You will report directly to a project manager, assist with research, and conduct preliminary design calculations. This is a paid, full-time position that offers a rolling term.
What you'll do#
- Prepare reports, cost estimates, specifications, design calculations, and construction material quantities.
- Use computer-aided design and engineering software to draft working plans and detailed drawings.
- Analyze and revise maps, charts, exhibits, diagrams, as-built maintenance records, and layouts.
- Participate in construction support tasks, such as responding to submittals and RFIs.
- Visit project sites as part of the design team.
- Collect and maintain project documentation.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in an ABET-accredited university working toward a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering.
- Completion of core civil engineering coursework and current enrollment in upper-level division courses.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Ability to perform physical tasks such as sitting, standing, and walking, as well as lifting up to 35 lbs.
Location & details#
- Location: Rancho Cordova, California.
- Modality: Hybrid and on-site work.
- Pay: $20 to $25 per hour.
- Note: This role involves working in both office and field environments, which may include exposure to inclement weather, heat, noise, or uneven terrain. Occasional operation of a company vehicle may be required.
