About the role#
The Field Operations Intern supports Superintendents and Project Managers with daily job site tasks. You will assist with safety program administration, quantity tracking, schedule analysis, and project documentation. This position provides hands-on experience in field coordination and construction quality control.
What you'll do#
- Support the project safety program by conducting safety walks and ensuring a compliant work environment.
- Assist the project team with daily and weekly tasks, including preparing reports and updating project schedules.
- Interpret contract drawings, submittals, and technical documentation.
- Participate in the quality assurance program by performing site inspections and verifying material compliance.
- Coordinate subcontractor activities to help meet project timelines.
- Maintain project records, including daily logs, RFIs, and submittal tracking.
- Monitor onsite material deliveries and inventory.
- Observe and report on site conditions that affect the schedule or budget.
- Use construction management software to track and update project information.
- Contribute to the short-term planning process and participate in team meetings.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field. Preference is given to students in Civil Engineering or construction-focused programs.
- Basic knowledge of construction site safety standards and protocols.
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and technical documents.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, specifically Excel, Word, and Outlook.
- An aptitude for learning construction management software.
- A basic understanding of construction scheduling concepts, including the critical path method.
- Strong organizational skills for managing documentation and reporting.
