About the role#
The Field Operations Co-op supports Superintendents and Project Managers by assisting with safety program administration, quantity tracking, schedule analysis, and job site documentation. This role provides hands-on experience in field coordination, schedule management, and construction quality oversight. This is a full-time, on-site position based in Portland, Maine, for the Summer 2027 term.
What you'll do#
- Support the administration of the project safety program to ensure a compliant work environment.
- Assist the assistant superintendent, superintendent, and project manager with daily and weekly activities, including preparing reports and conducting safety walks.
- Participate in the quality assurance program by attending meetings and performing site inspections.
- Coordinate subcontractor activities to support adherence to project timelines and safety requirements.
- Utilize construction management software and tools to track project information.
- Interpret contract drawings, submittals, and project documentation.
- Monitor onsite material deliveries and inventory to facilitate project progress.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Architecture, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Business Administration, or Operations Management.
- Basic knowledge of construction site safety standards, practices, and protocols.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, specifically Excel, Word, and Outlook.
- Basic understanding of construction scheduling, including critical path method (CPM) concepts.
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, submittals, and technical documents.
- Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
