About the role#
The Radiology Student Tech performs diagnostic imaging procedures under the direct supervision of a registered Radiologic Technologist. This role focuses on developing clinical competency and technical skills while supporting daily patient care operations. You will work within an accredited program structure to gain hands-on experience across various imaging modalities.
What you'll do#
- Perform radiologic examinations while ensuring proper patient identification and adherence to imaging protocols.
- Position patients appropriately and select technical factors to obtain high-quality diagnostic images.
- Communicate with patients to provide instructions and promote comfort during procedures.
- Follow department protocols for radiation safety, infection control, and the use of personal protective equipment.
- Label images accurately and use side markers according to departmental standards.
- Document procedures in electronic systems, including exam fields and charge entry.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized imaging environment.
- Seek guidance from technologists and clinical instructors to ensure safe and competent performance.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an accredited Radiologic Technology program.
- Zero to one year of clinical experience.
- Basic understanding of radiographic procedures and imaging equipment.
- Knowledge of radiation safety principles and infection prevention practices.
- Ability to obtain BCLS (Basic Life Support) certification within 30 days of hire.
- Basic computer literacy and familiarity with electronic health records.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to apply feedback in a clinical setting.
