About the role#
This year-long internship runs from Summer 2027 through Spring 2028. You will join one of two specialized teams: Platform Engineering or Site Reliability Engineering (SRE). Both tracks focus on building and maintaining the infrastructure and software that keep our electronic trading platforms, risk management systems, and front-end interfaces running. You will work on system design, research, and automation projects.
What you'll do#
- Write and maintain low-latency trading platforms and internal systems.
- Design and deploy customer-focused solutions.
- Build reliable processes for our infrastructure.
- Platform Engineers focus on automation, CI/CD, and DevOps within Google Cloud and Kubernetes environments.
- SREs focus on application development, cloud migration, and system reliability.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an undergraduate or graduate degree program in Computer Science or a related field.
- Coding experience in Java or Python.
- Familiarity with cloud technologies.
- Attention to detail and a commitment to continuous learning.
- Preferred: Experience with UNIX/Linux, PowerShell, JavaScript, SQL, R, or bash shell scripting.
- Preferred: Prior technical experience.
Location & details#
- This role is based in Chicago, Illinois.
- The position is hybrid and requires you to work in the office.
- You must be available to work in-office year-round.
- The internship begins in Summer 2027 at 40 hours per week, transitioning to 15-20 hours per week during the Fall 2027 and Spring 2028 semesters.
