About the role#
In our reconditioning facility, every car presents a unique set of challenges. Unlike a traditional assembly line, we manage variation in mechanical needs and bodywork for every vehicle. As a Production Development Engineering Intern, you will solve the engineering problems involved in building standard work, staffing models, and facility layouts. You will own one main project from start to finish while supporting one or two smaller initiatives.
What you'll do#
- Time-study processes within our Inspection, Mechanical, or Detail areas to separate value-added steps from waste.
- Use production data to map cycle and wait times, identifying bottlenecks and testing solutions on the floor.
- Analyze why vehicles fail quality control or require rework, collaborating with mechanics and leads to implement measurable changes.
- Redesign work areas or bays using CAD software and support your proposals with data.
- Manage capital projects by gathering vendor quotes and tracking budgets and timelines.
- Present your project achievements to the executive team at the end of your term.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a Mechanical, Mechatronics, Management, Systems Design, or related engineering program.
- Proficiency in Excel or Google Sheets, including pivot tables, charts, and basic formulas.
- Exposure to CAD software like SolidWorks, AutoCAD, or Fusion 360 through coursework, design teams, or past experience.
- A willingness to spend most of your day on the shop floor, engaging directly with mechanics and production leads.
- Clear communication skills to explain technical recommendations to both operators and directors.
Location & details#
- Location: 3360 Wolfedale Road, Mississauga, Ontario.
- Modality: Full-time, on-site, Monday to Friday (8:30am to 4:30pm).
- Term: January to April 2027, with potential to extend through August 2027.
- Compensation: $26 to $30 per hour.
