About the role#
Clean Harbors is seeking a Lab Chemist Intern for our Grassy Mountain Landfill location. This full-time internship provides students with hands-on experience in environmental services. You will work alongside experienced professionals to support real projects and gain exposure to our operations. This role is strictly on-site.
What you'll do#
- Prioritize health and safety by following all work practices and OSHA regulations.
- Shadow supervisors and technicians to learn laboratory procedures.
- Analyze various metals, including mercury.
- Perform wet chemistry testing, such as Chlorine and Fluoride analysis.
- Use analytical laboratory instruments including GC, IC, and ICP.
- Manage waste generated from analytical procedures.
- Document, review, and validate data and laboratory records.
- Assist with additional tasks as assigned by management.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a chemistry, biology, or relevant degree program.
- Previous experience working in a laboratory setting.
- Knowledge of wastewater, TOC, ICP instrumentation, wet chemistry, and flashpoint.
- Familiarity with calorimetry is a plus.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and other technical tools.
- Strong communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a professional team.
- Ability to lift up to 50lbs, climb stairs, bend, stoop, and stand for long hours.
