About the role#
The I & E Technician Intern position is based at the Aragonite Incinerator. This summer program allows students to gain hands-on experience while supporting projects across environmental, energy, and industrial services. You will work alongside experienced professionals to develop practical skills that support your academic and career goals.
What you'll do#
- Prioritize health and safety by following all safe work practices and policies.
- Help troubleshoot instrument and control system malfunctions.
- Shadow technicians during preventative maintenance checks, calibrations, and inspections.
- Support work on power distribution systems, cabling, switchgear, and motor control centers.
- Gain exposure to medium voltage electrical systems and substation equipment.
- Maintain accurate logs and records.
- Verify and update schematics, P&IDs, and technical documentation.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a two-year I&E program, electrical engineering, or a relevant field.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, and Outlook).
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
- Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of the organization.
- Knowledge of electrical schematics and P&IDs is preferred.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs, climb ladders, and work at heights.
- Ability to stand, bend, and stoop for prolonged periods.
- Comfort working in various weather conditions.
