This is a 12-month, full-time paid internship for the Summer 2027 term. Based in Ottawa, this role provides exposure to engineering design and documentation control practices within the telecommunications industry. You will work alongside mechanical designers to support the development and maintenance of test equipment.
What you'll do#
- Assist with the design and configuration of electro-mechanical equipment and test stations.
- Generate product documentation, including custom part drawings, assembly drawings, engineering bills of materials, and process flows.
- Create documentation to record changes and capture fabrication procedures.
- Analyze test results and provide recommendations to management regarding defects and performance issues.
- Periodically build, modify, and repair test equipment, fixtures, and electro-mechanical assemblies.
What you'll need#
- Currently working towards a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, or a Diploma in Mechanical Engineering Technology.
- Preference is given to students in their 3rd year or beyond.
- Proficiency with 3D design tools, specifically PROE or Creo.
- Proficient knowledge of 3D printers and their maintenance.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and adapt to changing priorities.
- Mechanically inclined, with the ability to mount, repair, and adapt test setups.
Location & details#
- Location: Ottawa, Ontario, Canada.
- Work Modality: On-site.
- Compensation: $24.50 - $33.00 per hour.
