    About the role#

    This is a 4-month co-op position for the Fall 2026 term (September through December). You will join the Reliability team to assist in testing discrete components and printed circuit board assemblies (PCBAs) to evaluate their performance in harsh environments. This role is based on-site at the Ottawa campus 3-4 days per week.

    What you'll do#

    • Test discrete components and PCBAs in a laboratory setting for accelerated life and corrosion resistance.
    • Set up test circuits and monitor critical component parameters.
    • Assess the lifespan of electrical components on circuit boards using Excel.
    • Organize reliability data to ensure it is searchable and easily referenced.
    • Gain exposure to telecommunications equipment, complex circuit packs, and optical components.
    • Learn about design for reliability, product aging acceleration, and lab instrumentation including X-ray, SEM, EDX, confocal microscopy, and cross-section analysis.

    What you'll need#

    • Currently working toward a degree in Physics, Electrical Engineering, or Reliability Engineering.
    • Proficiency in Excel and Excel VBA.
    • Understanding of simple electronic circuits and components.
    • Experience with digital voltmeters (DVM) and various laboratory instruments.
    • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with a self-starting, motivated approach.
    • Programming knowledge in Python, Java Script, node.js, Git, or Arduino controllers, as well as soldering experience, are considered assets.

    • Term: Fall 2026 (4 months)
    • Work Modality: On-site
    • Compensation: $25.00 - $34.00 per hour
