About the role#
This is a 4-8 month co-op placement starting in September 2026. You will join a hardware development team focused on power and interconnect technologies for Converged Packet Optical products. This role involves the design, implementation, and validation of optical and electrical interconnects and power hardware solutions.
What you'll do#
- Define electrical and optical interconnect solutions and validate their mechanical, electrical, optical, and performance characteristics.
- Recommend interconnect solutions and provide implementation guidance to multi-functional teams.
- Participate in the design of AC and DC power interface modules and cooling systems.
- Evaluate electrical interconnects, such as cables, connectors, and backplanes, for new hardware designs.
- Evaluate optical interconnects, including adaptors, patchcords, and connectors.
- Perform application verification testing on power designs and interconnect solutions.
- Interface with suppliers to identify power and interconnect solutions that meet system requirements.
What you'll need#
- Active enrollment in an Electrical Engineering degree program.
- Experience using lab test equipment and measurement techniques.
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and teamwork skills.
- Preferred but not required: understanding of high-speed signaling, transmission lines, digital and analog design, and power electronics. Familiarity with PCB schematic capture, layout tools, and communication protocols like Ethernet, OTN, SONET, or Fiber Channel is also a plus.

- Compensation: $25.50 - $35.00 per hour.
