About the role#
We are looking for an Electrical Engineer Intern to join our oil refinery team in McPherson, Kansas. You will provide technical support to refinery engineers to help maintain optimal performance across various units. This role requires attention to detail and clear communication skills.
What you'll do#
- Perform routine engineering calculations and interpret instructions to apply engineering principles.
- Organize and document refinery electrical utilization and distribution systems.
- Field verify, revise, and store electrical drawings and documents in our electronic filing and maintenance management systems.
- Design motor and feeder circuits, including updates to P&IDs, conduit and cable lists, schematic drawings, and power panel schedules.
- Work on projects involving equipment design, material testing, and report preparation.
- Identify and report safety, health, and environmental issues.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment as a Junior in an Electrical Engineering program at a four-year university.
- Completion of core engineering coursework, such as Circuit Theory.
- Availability to work 40 hours per week.
- Previous internship experience within the petrochemical or refining industry.
- Ability to wear required personal protective equipment, including respirators.
