About the role#
Chemelex is looking for a Firmware Engineering Intern to join our Research and Development team in Edmonton. This is an 8-month, full-time, paid internship starting in September 2026. You will work on secure firmware for industrial heating control and leak detection products. We prefer candidates in their third or fourth year of a post-secondary program.
What you'll do#
- Apply your formal education to hands-on firmware and electronics development.
- Learn and use modern tools to test, implement, and deploy firmware solutions.
- Collaborate with hardware and software teams to support our product portfolio.
- Gain exposure to Industrial Internet of Things (IIOT) technologies.
- Work within an agile team to deliver digital solutions.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computing Science, Software Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related program with a co-op or internship component.
- Experience coding in Rust, C, C++, Python, or similar languages.
- Firmware or software design skills, specifically with Linux, FreeRTOS, or bare metal environments.
- Ability to explain technical concepts to your peers.
- Experience with embedded interfaces and communication protocols is an asset.
- A strong aptitude for learning and applying new, complex technologies.
