About the role#
As an Environmental Engineering Co-Op, you will assist our environmental team in monitoring conditions at project sites. You will participate in both field and office activities to help our team and clients reach their project goals. You will work directly with senior staff to gain hands-on experience in the field.
What you'll do#
- Support senior staff with stream mitigation and stream augmentation inspections to ensure client compliance.
- Collect field samples of water, soil, and other media.
- Document media characteristics such as pH, temperature, conductivity, and color.
- Assemble, operate, and maintain field equipment and instruments.
- Prepare field sketches and notes.
- Manage large datasets and complete data entry.
- Collect quality control samples, including field duplicates and trip blanks.
- Coordinate access with landowners.
- Assist with habitat evaluations, wetland delineations, and stream assessments.
- Follow all safety requirements mandated by the company and our clients.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a Bachelor's degree program for biology, environmental science, natural resources, or a related field.
- A strong interest in natural resources work.
- Proficiency with MS Office Suite.
- Ability to hike across uneven terrain while carrying equipment.
- Ability to perform field duties in variable weather conditions.
- Strong organizational and multi-tasking skills.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills.
- Critical thinking and problem-solving abilities.
- A valid driver's license.
