About the role#
Caterpillar's Procurement team manages the purchasing of materials for over 300 product lines, ranging from construction and mining equipment to industrial turbines and engines. This role supports the acquisition of materials and services necessary for business operations, including IT hardware, software, and office supplies. Interns work with internal customers globally to ensure quality, cost, and delivery objectives are met.
What you'll do#
This is a 12-week, full-time (40 hours per week) assignment. You will contribute to global sourcing strategies, interface with product supply and category teams, and analyze data for supplier negotiations. Depending on the specific assignment, you may work in areas such as category buying, facility procurement, supplier development, or process improvement. You will manage policies and agreements while supporting project management and continuous improvement efforts.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment as a full-time student at a 4-year accredited university in Business Administration, Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or Supply Chain Management.
- Completion of at least 30 semester hours before the start of the internship (transfer students must have 12 hours completed at a 4-year university).
- A minimum cumulative GPA of 2.8/4.0.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with individuals from diverse backgrounds.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and project management skills.

- Locations: Peoria, Mossville, East Peoria, and Morton, Illinois; Irving and Victoria, Texas.
- Term: Summer 2027.
- Modality: On-site (5 days per week).
