About the role#
Cascade Energy is seeking an Information Technology Intern to gain real-world experience in a professional services environment. This part-time, non-exempt role is focused on supporting our internal IT operations while exploring data intelligence, AI, and cloud architecture. You will work in a hybrid capacity, splitting your time between our downtown Portland office and remote work.
What you'll do#
- Provide entry-level help desk and user support, assisting staff with hardware, software, login, and access issues.
- Write basic to intermediate SQL queries to organize data for reporting and validate information in internal systems.
- Shadow senior team members on SQL, reporting, and data-related projects to understand how technology supports business decisions.
- Experiment with approved AI tools under supervision to identify opportunities for automating routine IT workflows.
- Update and maintain IT documentation, FAQs, and support process guides.
- Participate in team meetings and contribute ideas from your coursework in databases, AI, or cloud platforms.
What you'll need#
- Current pursuit or recent completion of a degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Cybersecurity, Data Science, Computer Engineering, or equivalent training.
- Basic understanding of computer hardware, operating systems, networking concepts, and common business applications.
- Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills, including the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical users.
- Familiarity with Microsoft 365 and cloud-based platforms is preferred.

- Modality: Hybrid (50% in-office, 50% remote).
- Status: Part-time, non-exempt.
- Compensation: $25 per hour.
