About the role#
The Recreation Intern position works within the Recreation and Facilities division. You will gain hands-on experience in facility operations, programming, fitness, and member services. This role is based at the Monon Community Center and Waterpark.
What you'll do#
- Assist staff in planning, supervising, and evaluating various recreation programs.
- Help facility guests with day pass sales, memberships, tours, and program registration.
- Educate visitors and participants on facility policies and procedures.
- Manage databases and provide customer service to resolve public inquiries or complaints.
- Attend division meetings, staff trainings, and department gatherings.
- Support recreation managers with tasks that help reach department goals.
What you'll need#
- You must be a student currently enrolled in a Bachelor or Master program for parks and recreation, hospitality management, or a related field.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule that includes days, evenings, and weekends.
- Proficiency with computers and software for word processing and spreadsheets.
- You must pass a background check covering national, state, and local searches.
- You should be comfortable working in outdoor conditions, including exposure to rain, humidity, and temperature changes.
