About the role#
This internship places you within the Food Innovation team, a corporate research and development group that supports the full range of Cargill food and ingredient offerings. You will apply your academic background in a commercial setting, working on substantive projects that span from initial concept to commercialization. This is a 12-week, full-time, paid position based in Plymouth, Minnesota.
What you'll do#
- Take ownership of one or two substantive projects as the primary technical contributor.
- Tackle product development challenges alongside experienced team members.
- Research new ingredients and technologies to support customer solutions.
- Collaborate across various Cargill departments and segments.
- Work in a combination of labs, pilot plants, and office settings.
- Travel to production plants as needed, typically 15 percent of the time or less.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a Bachelors or Masters degree program in Food Science or a related field, with a graduation date between December 2027 and May 2028.
- Ability to work for 12 weeks during the summer of 2027.
- Legal right to work in the U.S. without reliance on a student visa or third-party sponsorship.
- High level of initiative and resourcefulness to complete tasks with limited guidance.
- Ability to work well with people from diverse backgrounds and cultures.
- Geographic flexibility and willingness to relocate to Plymouth, MN.
- Preference is given to those pursuing a Master of Science or PhD in Food Science or related fields.
- Knowledge of Starch or Biopolymer Chemistry is considered a plus.

- Compensation: $28.49 - $34.25 per hour, depending on graduation date and employment eligibility.
