About the role#
Capital Power is seeking a student to join the Data Centre Solutions team for the summer of 2027. This team manages power marketing and origination efforts for our natural gas generation fleet. You will report to team analysts and support the commercialization of power solutions for data centers. This is a full-time, on-site position based in Calgary.
What you'll do#
- Draft and refine proposals, presentations, and contracts for customers.
- Coordinate with internal teams to answer inquiries from customers and investors.
- Analyze market data to produce reports and insights for business development.
- Research trends, regulatory changes, and opportunities in the energy and data center sectors.
- Maintain databases related to market trends and deal opportunities.
- Participate in customer calls and manage meeting documentation.
- Assess the feasibility of land parcels and assets for co-located data centers, including checking for utility and connectivity access.
- Review financial, pricing, and tax models used for contract development.
- Help prepare business cases and proposals for potential deals.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a bachelor's degree program in business, finance, economics, political science, policy, government relations, or engineering. Equivalent experience may be considered.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks independently.
- Legal eligibility to work in Canada.
- Familiarity with energy markets, power generation, or sustainability is an asset, as is experience with financial modeling or data analysis.
