About the role#
Cal Poly Pomona Enterprises is hiring an Undergraduate Research Student Assistant to join the NSF CREST Grant team. You will work under the supervision of Dr. Fatemeh Jamshidi to advance research in Intelligent Human-System Integration using augmented and virtual reality. This role involves working within an interdisciplinary team of graduate and undergraduate researchers on real-world development projects.
What you'll do#
- Conduct applied research, including literature reviews, data collection, and project documentation.
- Design and build AR/VR training scenarios for the IME Smart Manufacturing Lab.
- Implement and test interactive simulations using Unity and C#.
- Integrate AR/XR systems with Digital Twin environments.
- Evaluate the effectiveness of training systems through user studies and technical analysis.
- Collaborate with researchers across multiple subprojects within the CREST Center.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment as an undergraduate student at Cal Poly Pomona in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or Industrial Engineering.
- Proficiency in Unity and C# programming.
- A strong understanding of object-oriented programming and 3D environments.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a research team.
- Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
